Capture PFAS and emerging contaminants

PFAS Effluent Treatment System (PETS)

What it is

PETS is a mobile, modular wastewater treatment unit for on-site PFAS containment​. This technology was invented by the Army Corps of Engineers- Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) and has been demonstrated across five different installations from retention ponds, AFFF system changeouts, and accidental releases. The PETS treatment platform is used to reduce PFAS waste volumes up to 10,000x and minimizing waste transportation costs​ for waste generators.

 

The PETS system is designed to be flexible, utilizing any necessary type of sorption-based media to remove PFAS and achieving regulatory discharge limits (ng/L).

 

The modular system is easily adapted to remove other constituents for co-mingled waste streams.

Destroy PFAS and emerging contaminants (SCWO)

Supercritical Water Oxidation (SCWO)

what it is

Supercritical Water Oxidation (SCWO) is a hydrothermal treatment that operates in a unique supercritical phase of water (>374°C and >22.1 MPa) to rapidly and completely degrade chemicals that would otherwise survive traditional waste treatment methods. Our SCWO system provides an environmentally-friendly alternative to incineration and is especially suitable for wastes with recalcitrant compounds such as PFAS, co-mingled waste streams, and solids. Our SCWO can be configured as a mobile unit for on-site treatment. SCWO has been successfully used to treat a broad spectrum of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes with up to 99.999% destruction removal efficiency.

Key differentiators for our SCWO system versus others is a higher technology readiness level, improved controls to prevent salt corrosion, and higher operating temperatures for complete destruction.
